Bel Air real estate in the hills of the Westside of the city of Los Angeles is a residential community that is considered quite affluent. Located approximately 12 miles from Los Angeles, Bel Air includes part of the foothills of the Santa Monica Mountains. The combination of Bel Air, Beverly Hills and Holmby Hills create the Platinum Triangle of the neighborhoods of Los Angeles. Bel Air is the home of many Hollywood celebrities as well as prestigious corporate executives.
Bel Air homes for sale range from ranch-style to mansions that are located on grand estates. The majority of homes here are secluded and hidden by foliage and gates. Typically the higher into the mountains of Bel Air one goes the smaller the homes become. Many of the more modest appearing homes actually have very large grounds. Bel Air real estate near the entrances to the Bel Air Country Club are quite popular due to the proximity to the country club and the view that is provided of Los Angeles. In addition, many homes located in the lower part of Bel Air are more expensive because of their proximity to Sunset Boulevard.

In addition, there are several private schools. One of the major attractions in Bel Air is the UCLA Hannah Carter Japanese Garden. The gardens contain many structures that were built in Japan and assembled here. Containing a main gate, a garden house, bridges and a shrine, the garden includes antique stone carvings from Japan. The five-tiered pagoda and certain symbolic rocks were also brought to Bel Air from Japan.
